India needs a revamped education system: Vice President
Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu has called for the revamped education system of India. An education system which can prepare the youth of the India for the challenges of 21st century and at the same time keeps Indian values and ethos intact. Mr. Naidu was present at the inauguration ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of BHS Higher Education Society, in Bengaluru.He said that History books must contain the sacrifices made by various freedom fighters from different parts of the country. He further added that the education system along with supporting the students must also support the institutes of learning so that can be at par in excellence on foreign standards. "We need an education system that transforms a student to become a complete human being, who is sensitive to the needs of others, understands the other point of view and respects and values others for what they are," he added. Mr. Naidu also advised students and teachers to study the draft of the New Education Policy and make suggestions to make it more robust, equitable and inclusive."Policymakers and the educationists must ensure that every child receives a holistic education," he added.He also said that the government is worried about the increasing cost of education. Education is a fundamental need and must be made affordable. He also urged business associations, corporate firms, trusts, entrepreneurs and philanthropic organizations to create dedicated funds for the promotion of affordable education.
