Contractual teachers in Delhi failed to pass basic recruitment test
In a response to Delhi’s High Court affidavit, the Delhi Subordinate Selection Board (DSSB) said that 77 percent of the ad-hoc teachers in Delhi government schools failed to pass the basic recruitment test. They failed to secure the minimum passing marks necessary for recruiting them as permanent teachers in the schools. It has been reported that almost one-third of the teaching staff in government schools is filled by the contractual teachers and they have been teaching in schools for the past several years. Their contract ended on February 28 and since they have been demanding permanent jobs and this is one of the raging issues during peak election time in the nation. The exam was taken but the results present a gloomy picture of the teacher’s knowledge. The results of the exam were not satisfactory and were termed as sub-standard by the DSSB. 21,135 guest teachers gave the test for the various posts of which more than 16,000 teachers failed to secure minimum passing marks.
