More than 6 lakh students did not appear for the UP Board exams



More than 6 lakh students did not appear for exams in the recently concluded UP board examinations. An official, who was known to the development, said that UP government’s strong determination to conduct fair exams free from any malpractices was the main reason. March 2, 2019, was the last day of the exam and more than 2000 students did not appear for the English exam due to stringent measures to prevent cheating. Last year, more than 1.8 lakh students including 53,100 high school students were absent on the first day of the exam due to strong anti-cheating measures. This year, the board took stringent measures to prevent cheating. “Till now 403 students were caught cheating with 11 on the last day of the examinations which includes 5 boys and six girls,” the board’s said in a press release. Regarding those caught cheating, UPSEB secretary Neena Srivastava said, “It will be considered by the committee and if found guilty their result will be canceled.” Incidents of cheating were reported during the class 12th Physics exam in Muzaffarnagar. Police arrested 17 people including 14 invigilators. “The results of Class 10, 12 examinations will be announced in the second or third week of April. The board will convey the exact date and time soon,” Srivastava said.
