NEET scores will be valid for three years
Medical Council of India (MCI) has released a Gazette notification in which it has extended the validity of the NEET scores for three years. Earlier, the NEET scores were valid only for one year -- the year in which student has appeared for the exam. In a separate Gazette notification MCI has also made NEET exam compulsory for the students who wish to study medicine from foreign universities. "The result of NEET shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result, entitling a candidate to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course," as mentioned in the official notification. The notification also said the regulation "shall come into force from the date of publication in the official Gazette." Formerly, NEET was know as All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT). It is an entry level test for the medical students who wish to pursue medical studies at the graduate level from the private and government colleges and universities of the nation. At present, NEET is organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Before this, CBSE was in the supervising authority of the national-level entrance exam.
